MONTAUK HOUSE

A single story beach bungalow burned down to its foundation. The owners took this opportunity to rethink their goals for this house and came to us for the redesign. Due to its proximity to wetlands, we were limited to rebuilding on the existing foundation, a simple rectangular footprint. We chose to celebrate the tradition of cedar cladding on the exterior using a combination of white cedar shingles and shiplap boards. A simple, three gable form with integrated gutters gives way to a grand double high volume on the interior.
